Red Mulberry Morus rubra
Family: Moraceae (Mulberry)
Branching: Alternate

This tree is rare in Canada, where it is at its extreme northern range.  Its twigs look similar to Elm twigs.  In the summer it, the introduced White Mulberry, and native Sassafras are unique in having more than one main leaf shape.  Red Mulberry leaves are sandpapery on top.
